It's been exactly one year Spike and I were partnered up to venture out together..... one step at a time. Since then, my life has changed in such ways that words can't describe. Without Spike, I would still be a prisoner in my own home. Spike never leaves my side and is the most loyal companion I have and will ever have. Spike has helped me regain my independence and together we walk the streets with our heads up high, not letting anything get in our way.
Did you know that Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs in the world? The puppies are adorable, but to witness these amazing dogs in training is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to their intelligence and fine training, people like me who are visually impaired or completely blind are suddenly able to walk out their front door and go wherever they want and need to go...
Southeastern Guide Dogs doesn't charge anything for our dogs, or for the training. I'm thankful for their services, and that's why I'm participating in their biggest fundraiser of the year: the Walkathon.
